Diary, 1884-1887, [189-].

Diary probably kept by Isaac H. Smith (1884-1887), recording two trips and also serving as a diary for the year 1887. Beginning in Dec. 1884, Smith took a trip through the West with his uncle, first spending several months in Nebraska, mostly in Lincoln. Entries pertain to such topics as the weather, train travel, accomodations, sites, and people met. Several illustrated clippings are pasted in as is an 1885 map of the Denver and Rio Grande Railway. Also the author records a trip taken to Erie County, New York in July 1894 with his father, including a stop at Niagara Falls. Smith used this volume as a diary for 1887; brief entries record significant events, persons visited, etc. Final pages used for miscellaneous notes. Inserted is a piece of stationary from the "Office of Isaac H. Smith, Court Stenographer, Peekskill, N.Y., 189-"
